When you first lay eyes on a photo of the To Sua Ocean Trench it’s one of those places that you immediately add to your Bucket List... clear turquoise water, deep in an ocean trench, surrounded by tropical gardens...paradise found? To Sua literally means “Giant Swimming Hole”. Located on the main Samoan Island of Upolu this unique land formation consists of two giant holes joined via an ancient lava tube cave out to the Ocean. The 30m deep swimming hole with turquoise water is accessed by a rather steep ladder which is not for the faint hearted. It can be quite slippery and heart stopping at times but for those who are brave enough to venture down the reward is worth it. You will never want to leave.. I know we didn’t.
